Is a Core i7 3770 compatible with a Dell Optiplex 390

I’ve been using a Core i7 3770 for a couple years now and have had no problems with it. I have had some issues with the Optiplex 390 though. It has a fan that pushes air across the heatsink, which is what causes the computer to overheat and shut down. I’m wondering if the Core i7 3770 will be compatible with this model of Optiplex 390. Indeed, it says on the back of the computer that it is compatible with the Core i7 3770. The computer also has a Pentium D 945. Will this work with the Core i7 3770?

However, the Optiplex 390 comes with a single power supply, which means that it can only handle one power cord at a time.
