Ray Tracing is Promising, But it Ain’t Here Yet
The Nvidia Corporation has just announced their new Turing-based GPUs, which stand to gain a boost in visual realism and real world performance. It’s worth noting that these cards will be available for purchase by all consumers as well as game developers who adopt this technology soon after its release next year (if they do). Ray tracing is a complicated process and the only game that currently supports it, Battlefield V will be released this November. Although ray tracing can bring more realistic graphics to gaming we have yet see how much of an impact enabling features like these actually has on performance which disappoints me since I was really looking forward for BFV’s release date after EA delayed it last year when they first announced its development phase before incorrectly saying 2020 as expected according developers blog post “Our goal at DICE remains intact: delivering world-class multiplayer experiences with meaningful innovation whilst embracing established fan favorites wherever possible.”
Deep Learning Super Sampling is no Better
Games are finally starting to take advantage of Nvidia’s new AI-based DLSS technology, which could improve performance and fidelity on high resolution panels in the future.
